Sip savory cocktails and classic martinis until midnight at the ’80s-themed hotspot
Amid New Orleans’s dwindling late-night culture, Hungry Eyes, the newish dinner restaurant from the Turkey and the Wolf team, is doing its part to keep it alive. The restaurant will be extending its hours on Friday and Saturday nights, slinging martinis, cocktails, and wine until midnight.
The new hours begin this weekend, Friday, September 1. Last call for dinner is 10 p.m., and last call for drinks is midnight — though in the future, there’s the potential for late-night bar snacks or pop-ups to accompany drinks. “Club Hungry,” as the team is calling it, might even eventually open on Thursday nights with drink specials for service industry friends from 4 p.m. until midnight. It’s a great chance to try the restaurant’s particularly fun drinks menu, which ranges from ’80s classics like apple martinis and cosmopolitans to inventions like the savory, earthy Robert cocktail, a mix of sherry, cognac, and mushroom; and the Dashitini, made with gin, mezcal, dashi, curry, horseradish, and dry vermouth.
Hungry Eyes was opened in April 2023 by Mason Hereford of Turkey and the Wolf along with his wife, Lauren Agudo, with chef Phil Cenac leading the kitchen, Carlos Quinonez behind the bar program, and wine curated by Lahzie Takada. The restaurant launched a martini happy hour earlier this summer, which runs from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday (it’s closed Tuesday) when the restaurant’s martinis are half-off and bottles of wine are 25 percent off. On Sundays, certain bottles of wine are half-off and there’s an expanded list of by-the-glass options.
