At one point, New Orleans had the largest Irish population in the South — that wave of immigrants settled mostly a riverfront neighborhood called the Irish Channel. Generally, the Channel is bordered by Magazine Street to the north, Jackson Avenue to the east, Tchoupitoulas along the river to the south, and Delachaise to the west. Today, the area is dotted with top-notch restaurants, bars, and coffee shops, from a fine-dining standout to an innovative breakfast joint to a classic po’ boy destination.
